| 表面の説明 | The central field depicts a group of five Zvončari (bell ringers) from the Halubje village in the Kastav region, shown in full figure advancing toward the viewer in their traditional carnival costumes. Each figure wears a shaggy sheepskin coat and a horned animal-mask headdress, characteristic of the UNESCO-recognized Halubajski Zvončari procession. The central figure bears a tall conical hat adorned with a decorative finial, while the flanking figures brandish sticks or rattles. The denomination '4 EURO' appears in the lower exergual area, and the curved legend 'REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA' is inscribed along the upper periphery within a raised inner border. |

The Halubje bell ringers — known locally as *zvončari* — are a carnival tradition from the Halubje area of the Kastav municipality, near Rijeka, centered on groups of men wearing sheepskin costumes and large cowbells to drive away winter and evil spirits. UNESCO added the broader zvončari practice to its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2009. Croatia has made a habit of issuing collector coinage tied to its UNESCO-recognized traditions, and this piece continues that pattern.
The denomination of 4 euros is unconventional by any standard — a deliberate choice that allows Croatia to issue euro-denominated collector pieces without conflicting with ECB regulations governing standard circulation coinage.
