The legend 'FOUR CASH' arcs across the upper periphery in bold Latin capitals, while the Malayalam equivalent 'നാലു കാശു' occupies the lower arc. Two small floral or rosette ornaments flank the cypher at the mid-field, and the entire design is enclosed by a prominent beaded rim consistent with the obverse border style. |

Chithira Thirunal Bala Rama Varma II ruled Travancore under the shadow of the Instrument of Accession — signed in 1949 — which folded the princely state into the Indian Union and ended over a century of Travancore's independent coinage. Issues struck in the final years of this series were produced knowing the mint's days were numbered. The Travancore State Mint ceased operations shortly after accession.
KM#58 spans the last decade of an autonomous monetary system that had issued its own currency since the early nineteenth century. The 1949 terminus is the hard stop.
