Dieser Kassenschein stellt einen Teilbetrag der hinterlegten Goldschatzanweisungen des Reiches dar. Die Staatshauptkasse zahlt an den Inhaber den Gegenwert nach dem Kurse der 6% Gold-Schatzanweisungen des Reiches am Vortage der Zahlung in Reichswährung. Bremen's Staatshauptkasse issued this note during the Weimar hyperinflation period as part of a broader German experiment with gold-indexed emergency currency — Goldpfennig notes denominated in fractions tied to stable foreign or commodity values rather than the collapsing Papiermark. The dual denomination, expressing the same unit as both 4.2 Pfennig Gold and 1 US-Cent, reflects the practical reality of 1923: the American dollar had become a more reliable unit of account than anything the Reichsbank could offer.
H.M. Hauschild was a Bremen publishing and printing house, not a specialist security printer. Local procurement was the norm for Notgeld at this level.
