| Obverse description | Entirely epigraphic design in the North Indian sultanate tradition, the field occupied by multiple horizontal lines of bold Arabic script in the Tughra-influenced style characteristic of Jaunpur coinage. The legend reads 'Mahmud Shah bin Ibrahim Shah Sultan, khulidat mamlakatahu' (May his kingdom endure), acknowledging the sultan's lineage from Ibrahim Shah. The inscription fills the flan completely, with no border or decorative devices, the letters rendered in high relief typical of hammered billon issues of the Sharqi dynasty. |
