| Obverse description | Entirely epigraphic design in the North Indian sultanate tradition, the field occupied by multiple horizontal lines of bold Arabic script in the Tughra-influenced style characteristic of Jaunpur coinage. The legend reads 'Mahmud Shah bin Ibrahim Shah Sultan, khulidat mamlakatahu' (May his kingdom endure), acknowledging the sultan's lineage from Ibrahim Shah.
