| Obverse description | Unifacial klippe struck on a roughly square planchet with rounded corners. The obverse bears the interlaced GWC monogram of the Geoctroyeerde Westindische Compagnie at center, flanked by the Roman numeral denomination XXX and the date 1654, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The design is characteristic of emergency monetary issues produced at the Recife mint during the final years of Dutch Brazil, with a plain field surrounding the central device. The coin exhibits the irregular surface and flan cracks typical of hastily produced siege or emergency coinage. |
