Reverse description Central device consisting of a large royal crown set above the month abbreviation NOV (November), flanked by two sceptres crossed beneath the crown, with the denomination mark XXX (thirty) displayed prominently above the crown. The year 1689 appears at the top of the field within the legend, and the circumferential Latin legend reads MAG·BR·FRA·ET·HIB·REX·, the whole enclosed within a raised beaded rim. The month and year combination served as the unique dating convention distinctive to the Gun Money coinage series.
