The issuer's name "Herzoglich Braunschweigische Sparkasse" appears in large Gothic script across the upper portion, beneath a header line stating the note is issued to the bearer. Denomination numerals "30 M" occupy the upper left and right corners, with the value written out in Gothic script — "dreißig Mark" — within a ruled central panel. Series and serial number designations appear to the left and right respectively, with place and date "Braunschweig, am 1. Novbr. 1918" printed in blue, accompanied by two manuscript signatures and a large circular official cancellation stamp in violet.
