Maria Theresia's government struck these 30 Kreuzer pieces at the Hall mint in the Tyrol during the immediate aftermath of the War of the Austrian Succession, a conflict that had drained the treasury severely and forced repeated debasements of the silver coinage. The Hall mint — one of the oldest operating in the Habsburg domains — was retained for regional circulation needs even as Vienna centralized much of imperial monetary administration in this period.
The three-year window of this issue corresponds closely with fiscal stabilization efforts preceding the Haugwitz reforms of 1749, which restructured Habsburg taxation and spending across the hereditary lands.
