Goldwörth is a small Upper Austrian village on the Danube, and its decision to issue emergency currency in 1920 reflects the near-total collapse of small-change supply that plagued rural Austria in the years immediately following the empire's dissolution. The Heller, the smallest unit of the old Austro-Hungarian krone, was essentially worthless individually — yet towns like Goldwörth were printing it because coins had simply vanished from local commerce, hoarded or melted down.
The JPR0248b designation places this within the broader Jaksch cataloguing of Austrian Notgeld, a series numbering in the thousands. Goldwörth issued at minimum two denominations; this 30 Heller piece is the higher of the known pair.
