Comments

Fieberbrunn is a small Tyrolean village in the Pillersee valley, and its decision to issue notgeld in 1919 was purely practical — the postwar collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left rural communities across Austria without enough small-denomination coinage to conduct basic commerce. Municipalities printed their own fractional notes simply to make change.

Wagner of Innsbruck handled production for numerous Tyrolean communities during this period, which makes distinguishing between issues largely a matter of the printed municipal name rather than any meaningful difference in paper or typography.
