A map of Australia is rendered in the lower portion of the field, while the iconic Qantas Flying Kangaroo symbol appears to the right. Additional information

QANTAS — Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services — began operations in 1920 with a single Avro 504K and two pilots serving remote Queensland outposts. A century later it is the world's third-oldest continuously operating airline, having survived the Great Depression, wartime requisition by the RAAF, and two near-bankruptcies. This coin marks that centenary.

The gold-plated finish on fine silver at this scale is a production challenge the RAM has pursued increasingly since the mid-2010s, requiring uniform plating across a surface area that punishes any inconsistency in the galvanic process.
