Surrounding the bird bath are naturalistic sprays of Agapanthus in bloom, a flowering plant widely cultivated in Australian gardens, adding botanical detail to the composition. The legend KOOKABURRA arcs along the lower portion of the design, flanked by the date 2022 and the weight and fineness inscriptions. The Perth Mint's P mintmark and the initials NM appear within the reverse field. The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was introduced across Commonwealth coinage in 2015 — the last effigy approved before her death in September 2022, making this among the final Australian coins struck under that portrait while she was still alive.
