The Australian Koala series has been struck in kilogram format since 1992, making it one of the longer-running bullion programs of its kind from the Perth Mint. Charles III's effigy appears here for the first time on this denomination following the transition from Elizabeth II's portrait — a changeover that required new obverse dies across the entire Australian bullion coin program simultaneously in 2023.
Perth's .9999 fineness standard for this series exceeds the traditional .999 threshold, a distinction the mint has maintained since refining its silver processing capabilities in the 1990s.
