| Obverse description | Central field displays the armorial shield of Cardinal Pier Francesco Galleffi, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, featuring a rooster passant on a horizontally striped field with a star in the upper left canton. The shield is surmounted by the papal umbrella (umbraculum) with crossed keys behind, and flanked on either side by tasselled ecclesiastical hat cords (fiocchi). The circular legend SEDE VACANTE MDCCCXXX arcs across the upper field, while the engraver's signature N. and mint name ROMA C. appear in the lower exergue. The coin's periphery is bounded by a toothed border. |
