Obverse description Bare or draped bust of Augustus facing left, rendered in a provincial style characteristic of Mauretanian civic coinage of the Augustan period. The portrait occupies the central field with a broad, rounded profile, the facial features now heavily worn and partially obscured by extensive encrustation and patination. A partial Latin legend is distributed around the periphery, reading A POMP MI, representing abbreviated names of local magistrates. The flan is irregular and slightly ovate, consistent with hand-hammered provincial production.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a scene greatly obscured by heavy wear and a thick olive-green and dark patina, consistent with long burial. Based on the reference MAA#152 and related Cartenna issues, the field likely shows two confronted or jugate male busts, interpreted as the local duoviri or civic magistrates, surrounded by a Latin legend naming the officials and the mint city. The partial legend C AL POMP M F VIC Q A F C KAR is distributed around the periphery, identifying Gaius Al— and Pompeius (M.F.), with the civic abbreviation KAR for Cartenna. The irregular flan and coarse die workmanship are typical of Mauretanian provincial bronze coinage struck under Augustan authority.
