Additional information

Cold Dew (寒露) marks the 17th of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar, falling around October 8th each year. The solar terms system, formalized during the Han dynasty and inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2016, structured agricultural life across China for over two millennia — dictating planting, harvesting, and seasonal preparation with a precision that western almanac traditions rarely matched.

This issue is part of a multi-year PBC program releasing individual solar term coins in small-format silver, each tied to a specific folkloric story or seasonal custom. Cold Dew is traditionally associated with chrysanthemum festivals and the last migratory movements of certain bird species before winter.
