| Descripción del anverso | The face of this State Credit Bill is dominated by a central oval vignette containing the crowned imperial double-headed eagle, flanked on either side by the denomination numeral «3» within elaborate guilloche cartouches. The heading «ГОСУДАРСТВЕННЫЙ КРЕДИТНЫЙ БИЛЕТЪ» is set in bold letterpress above a cursive text panel stating the obligation to redeem the note in silver or gold coin at the Expedition of State Papers, with manuscript signatures of the Upravlyayushchy, Direktor, and Kassir below. Corner panels carry the abbreviated denomination «ТРИ РУБ. СЕР.» and the serial number «№ 2068356» repeated twice, the whole note bordered by a fine guilloche frame with a wavy-line underprint. |

The Expedition for the Preparation of State Papers was established in 1818 specifically to bring security printing under direct state control — a response to rampant counterfeiting that had plagued earlier assignat issues. By the 1843 series, the facility had developed considerable technical sophistication, incorporating watermarked paper produced entirely in-house.
The 3 Rouble denomination in silver-backed credit notes (кредитные билеты) occupied an awkward middle position in daily commerce — too small for large transactions, too large for peasant use — which kept actual circulation volumes low relative to other denominations in the series. Low circulation often means low survival rates among used examples.
