Arkhangelskoye, the palatial estate northwest of Moscow, passed through the hands of several Russian noble families before the Yusupovs — already among the empire's wealthiest — acquired it in 1810. Felix Yusupov, the last private owner, is better known for his role in Rasputin's 1916 murder than for his stewardship of the estate. The Soviet government nationalized the property in 1919, the same year it opened as a museum, making this 2019 coin a centennial issue for the institution rather than a generic heritage piece.
