3 Roubles Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow was founded in 1912 by Ivan Tsvetaev — father of the poet Marina Tsvetaeva — and this coin marks the centenary of that founding. Tsvetaev spent nearly two decades lobbying, fundraising, and fighting bureaucratic resistance to build a teaching museum of plaster casts and reproductions for students who couldn't travel to see originals. The building itself was designed by Roman Klein and financed largely by industrialist Yury Nechaev-Maltsov, who ultimately covered roughly two-thirds of the total construction cost.
