Obverse description Draped bust of Queen Mary I of Scots in left-facing profile, her elaborately dressed hair adorned with a jewelled caul, wearing a beaded necklace visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late medieval hammered style, with the legend surrounding the portrait in the outer field separated by pellet stops.
