Simon VI ruled Lippe from 1563 until his death in 1613, and his lengthy administration produced a well-documented sequence of small silver issues. The 3 Pfennig denomination sat at the bottom of the practical coinage hierarchy — the kind of piece that changed hands thousands of times in weekly markets and rarely survived with any surface integrity. MB#18 places this among the earlier struck types of his reign, consistent with the monetary reforms circulating through the smaller Westphalian territories in the 1590s.
