The numeral '3' appears prominently at the top of the inscription, flanked by rosette ornaments. Below follow the lines 'PFEN.', 'SCHEIDE', and 'MUNZ.', with the date '17 D 63' on the lowest line, the mint mark 'D' (for Aurich) interposed between the two halves of the date.
