| Additional information |
Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld was a minor Thuringian duchy caught badly by the Napoleonic reorganization of German territories. Ernest I lost Saalfeld to the newly created Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 — which makes this a coinage window of striking brevity, issued while the duchy's borders and survival were genuinely in question. The Confederation of the Rhine reshuffled Ernestine Saxon lands repeatedly in these years, and small copper issues like this one often saw interrupted production mid-series.
