| Obverse description | Conjoined busts of King Ludwig III and Queen Marie Therese of Bavaria in right-facing profile, the king positioned slightly in front wearing civilian dress, the queen behind him wearing a small crown. The effigies are rendered in high relief with fine detail to the king's beard and the queen's hair and crown. The encircling legend reads LUDWIG III MARIE THERESE V. BAYERN divided by the anniversary dates * 1868-1918 * at the base, with the Munich mint mark D visible in the lower field. The entire design is framed by a fine inner beaded border. |
