3 Kreuzers - Leopold II

Leopold II reigned for less than two years before dying suddenly in March 1792 — widely suspected at the time to have been poisoned, though modern historians generally attribute his death to pleurisy compounded by aggressive medical treatment. His reign coincided almost exactly with the outbreak of revolutionary crisis across Europe, and he spent much of it negotiating the Declaration of Pillnitz with Prussia rather than consolidating domestic monetary policy. The 3 Kreuzer was a workhorse denomination, and the brevity of his reign keeps mintage totals across all issuing mints relatively modest.
