| Obverse description | Irregular square klippe flan struck in hammered gold, with a raised circular design field at centre. Within the circle, the arms of Brussels are depicted on a shield: the city's patron Saint Michael, shown as a winged armoured figure, vanquishing the dragon beneath his feet. The denomination mark '3 · GVL ·' appears above the shield, with the date divided '7' and '9' flanking the shield on either side to complete the year 1579. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading 'PERFER • ET • OBDVRA BRVXELA • 3 • GVL • 7 9', the motto meaning 'Endure and resist', an exhortation to the besieged city. The corners of the square planchet extend beyond the circular legend, characteristic of the klippe format. |

| Reverse description | Entirely plain and uninscribed reverse, presenting a flat, unworked gold surface with visible file and planishing marks characteristic of hastily prepared siege coinage. The square klippe format is clearly defined by the straight-cut edges of the flan, with no design, legend, or mint mark of any kind. The surface bears natural wear and scratches consistent with its emergency issue status and age. |
