Beschrijving keerzijde Enthroned frontal figure of Saint Rupert of Salzburg, patron saint of the archbishopric, depicted in full pontifical vestments including a mitre, seated upon an ornate throne. The saint holds a bishop's crozier in his left hand and an attribute in his right, his robes rendered with fine drapery lines characteristic of Renaissance die-cutting. The circular Latin legend S RVDBERTVS EPVS SALZBVRGEN surrounds the figure along the outer border, identifying the saint as Bishop Rupert of Salzburg. The reverse demonstrates the high artistic quality associated with Salzburg coinage of the mid-sixteenth century.
