| Reverse description | The reverse presents a richly detailed, selectively coloured composition celebrating the honey bee and its vital role in pollination. Dominating the field is an enlarged, naturalistically rendered honey bee, depicted in vibrant polychrome applied colour — with yellow and amber body, translucent veined wings, and compound purple eyes — perched upon a white multi-petalled flower, likely an apple blossom. Behind the bee, a large honeycomb lattice rendered in engraved relief fills the upper and central field, its hexagonal cells providing strong geometric contrast to the organic subject. The denomination 3 DOLLARS is inscribed in raised letters along the upper arc, CANADA along the lower arc, and the date 2013 appears to the right in the mid-field. The designer's initials YBF are visible at lower left within the field. |
