Obverse description Four Chinese ideograms in clerical script (lishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation, read clockwise from the top: 政 (Zheng), 和 (He), 寶 (Bao), 通 (Tong), rendering the reign-title inscription 'Zhenghe Tongbao.' The characters are rendered in a formal, disciplined clerical style characteristic of Northern Song imperial coinage under Emperor Huizong. The coin displays a raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and a broad outer rim, with the field showing the characteristic rough, porous surface typical of cast iron Song dynasty cash. Heavy encrustation and iron oxidation patina are visible across the entire surface.

Reverse description The reverse is uniface, displaying a plain, unadorned field surrounding the central square perforation. A raised inner rim borders the square hole, and a similarly raised outer rim defines the coin's edge. The surface exhibits the coarse, irregular texture inherent to cast iron production, with extensive iron corrosion and mineral encrustation consistent with extended burial or circulation. No legends, symbols, or mint marks are present.
