This colonial foundation type is a well-attested motif on early imperial Spanish provincial bronzes. The legend PERM CAESA AVG arcs around the upper periphery of the flan, indicating the coin was struck by permission of the emperor Augustus. The reverse field shows typical die-axis irregularity and surface granularity consistent with locally produced hammered colonial bronzes. |
