Additional information

Kyzikos, situated on the Propontis in Mysia, was one of the most commercially active cities of the ancient Greek world, largely due to its position controlling passage between the Aegean and the Black Sea. The city minted prolifically across multiple metals throughout the Hellenistic period, and its bronze issues of this century are consistent with civic coinage produced during a phase of relative autonomy before deeper integration into the Attalid sphere.

SNG France 441 places this piece within a well-documented sequence, though bronze attributions from Kyzikos can be complicated by the city's long minting history and overlapping type families.
