Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark King Birendra's fiftieth birthday, this is one of the heaviest commemorative coins Nepal ever produced — five troy ounces of fine silver in a single piece. Birendra had ruled since 1972, navigating the transition from absolute to constitutional monarchy in 1990 under significant popular pressure. He would be dead within six years, killed alongside most of the royal family in the palace massacre of June 2001, a night that effectively ended the Shah dynasty's functional grip on Nepal.
