| 表面の説明 | Central square panel bearing the royal cypher and dynastic titles in Devanagari script, arranged in a traditional yantra-style layout with the regnal inscription of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. The square is framed by a series of smaller cartouches containing additional Devanagari legends, set within a broad circular border with a beaded outer rim. The date 2052 (Vikram Samvat) appears in the lower portion of the central panel. The overall design reflects traditional Nepalese royal heraldic convention. |

Issued to mark King Birendra's fiftieth birthday, this is one of the heaviest commemorative coins Nepal ever produced — five troy ounces of fine silver in a single piece. Birendra had ruled since 1972, navigating the transition from absolute to constitutional monarchy in 1990 under significant popular pressure. He would be dead within six years, killed alongside most of the royal family in the palace massacre of June 2001, a night that effectively ended the Shah dynasty's functional grip on Nepal.
