Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large cross motif in high relief, its four arms decorated with intricate Romanesque interlace ornamental scrollwork in the corner quadrants. Across the horizontal arm of the cross, the Holy Lance of Saint Maurice — the relic gifted by Holy Roman Emperor Otto III to Duke Bolesław I the Brave at the Congress of Gniezno — is depicted in fine detail. At the top of the vertical arm, a rectangular tablet bears the Latin inscription ANNO DOMINI 1000 and the Polish legend ZJAZD GNIEŹNIEŃSKI. In the lower section of the cross, two standing figures rendered in the style of Romanesque relief sculpture — likely depicting Saints Adalbert and Radim or royal personages — face one another in a formal hieratic composition.
