Below the cartouche, a decorative lotus petal motif separates the central design from the denomination '250 ТӨГРӨГ' rendered in bold relief in the lower field. The Latin legend 'MONGOLIA 15.5gr 925 SILVER' appears in small characters near the lower rim. The entire design is framed by a serrated inner border with a milled outer edge. |

Part of a twelve-coin zodiac series issued by the Bank of Mongolia beginning in the mid-2000s, each denomination struck in sterling silver with relatively low mintages targeting the international collector market rather than domestic circulation. Mongolia had no particular cultural attachment to the Western zodiac, making these essentially pure numismatic products — commissioned revenue instruments dressed as commemoratives.
