| 备注 |
By 1988, Suriname's economy was under severe strain — the Dutch had suspended development aid in 1982 following the December Murders, when military strongman Dési Bouterse's regime executed fifteen prominent opponents. The 250 Gulden denomination entered circulation in that climate of fiscal pressure and political isolation, filling a gap left by the withdrawal of foreign financial cooperation.
Thomas De La Rue's involvement was unremarkable in technical terms — the watermark security is minimal for a high-denomination note of this period. The series is not scarce, and heavily circulated examples are common.
