The Yale of Beaufort is one of the ten heraldic beasts drawn from the ceremonial entry of King Henry VII into London in 1485 and later popularized through the Queen's Beasts series issued by the Royal Mint beginning in 1953. Senegal's use of this purely English heraldic creature carries no historical or cultural connection to the country — this is a bullion-adjacent collector issue produced under licensing arrangements that have made the BCEAO-affiliated CFA franc zone a vehicle for commemorative gold aimed squarely at the international numismatic market.
