| Aanvullende informatie |
Senegal issues coinage nominally denominated in CFA francs, but the currency itself is managed by the Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique de l'Ouest — a supranational institution covering eight West African nations whose franc has been pegged, in various arrangements, to the French franc and subsequently the euro since 1945. Senegal has no independent monetary policy. This piece, then, is a bullion or collector issue rather than anything approaching circulating coinage — the face value is essentially fictional against the melt.
