| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Senegal occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a lion passant and a baobab tree, flanked by two olive branches and surmounted by a five-pointed star. The motto ribbons read 'UN PEUPLE' at left, 'UNE FOI' at right, and 'UN BUT' on the lower scroll. The legend 'RÉPUBLIQUE DU SÉNÉGAL' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '250 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed in the lower field. A decorative rosette separates the shield from the denomination. |

| Reverse description | A highly detailed portrait of a male African lion (Panthera leo) fills the right portion of the field, rendered in fine relief with an impressively maned head facing left. To the left, a large lion paw print is depicted in low relief against a textured ground suggestive of savannah terrain. The series legend 'PREDATORS · PANTHERA LEO' arcs along the upper periphery, with the date '2020' at the apex. The fineness and weight statement '1/2 G .9999 FINEST GOLD' is inscribed along the lower periphery. |

Senegal issues coinage nominally denominated in CFA francs, but the currency itself is managed by the Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique de l'Ouest — a supranational institution covering eight West African nations whose franc has been pegged, in various arrangements, to the French franc and subsequently the euro since 1945. Senegal has no independent monetary policy. This piece, then, is a bullion or collector issue rather than anything approaching circulating coinage — the face value is essentially fictional against the melt.
