| Reverse description | The octagonal reverse features a central circular medallion depicting the Mosul Dam (Saddam Dam) on the Tigris River in fine relief, with stylised water rendered beneath the dam structure. Above the central device, the Quranic inscription 'وجعلنا من الماء كل شئ حى' (We made from water every living thing — Holy Quran) arcs across the upper field. The dual date '١٤٠١هـ ١٩٨١م' recording both the Hijri and Gregorian years of issue appears adjacent to the central medallion, while 'سد الموصل' (Mosul Dam) is inscribed below. A uniform denticled border frames the entire design consistent with the octagonal form of the obverse. |
