Opmerkingen

ORI — Oeang Republik Indonesia — was the currency of a republic that didn't yet fully control its own territory. Launched in October 1946 as a direct challenge to the Dutch colonial guilder still circulating in occupied areas, the ORI series was as much a political act as a monetary one. The 25 Rupiah of the second ORI issue appeared in 1947, the same year the Dutch launched their first military action, "Operatie Product," in July — an offensive that overran many of the regions where these notes were in active use.

Printing conditions were improvised throughout the series, and quality control varied considerably between batches. Paper stock inconsistencies are common and expected for the type.
