Beschrijving voorzijde At center of the deeply mirrored proof field stands the Russian State emblem — a double-headed eagle displayed, with wings spread, rendered in high relief against the polished background. The eagle bears no crowns, sceptre, or orb, in accordance with the Bank of Russia's standard device. Encircling the central device is a fine beaded border. The upper legend reads ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ (Twenty Five Roubles) in large Cyrillic characters arching along the top. Below the eagle, the issuer's name БАНК РОССИИ (Bank of Russia) is inscribed in two lines, flanked by the fineness mark АG 925 to the lower left and the weight indicator 155,5 to the lower right. The date 2014 Г. appears in large numerals at the bottom of the field, with the engraver's monogram visible near the lower right inner border.

Aanvullende informatie

The Spaso-Eleazarovsky Monastery in Pskov Oblast carries unusual historical weight: it was here in the early sixteenth century that the monk Filofei formulated the "Third Rome" doctrine, asserting that Moscow had inherited the spiritual mantle of fallen Constantinople. The monastery fell into disuse and near-ruin during the Soviet period and was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church only in 2000, with restoration ongoing at the time this coin was issued.
