The reverse presents a bare-headed, right-facing portrait bust of Mahatma Gandhi rendered in high relief, depicting his distinctive shaved head, round wire-rimmed spectacles, and prominent ear. Below the portrait, the name GANDHI appears in bold serif capitals, followed by the denomination 25 in large numerals and RIYALS beneath. The engraver's initials SDG appear in small letters at the lower right. The design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the inner edge of the coin. |

Ajman, the smallest and poorest of the Trucial States, issued a flood of gold commemoratives in the late 1960s and early 1970s almost entirely for the collector export market — not for domestic circulation. These pieces were produced under contract by European mints and distributed through philatelic and numismatic agencies abroad. The Gandhi issue appeared just months before the UAE federation replaced the individual Trucial State issuing authorities in 1971, making the entire commemorative program effectively a short-lived revenue scheme rather than a functioning monetary system.
Collector demand for these issues has remained modest since original issue.
