Concorde's connection to the Channel Islands is indirect but real: both Guernseys and the broader Bailiwick jurisdictions leaned heavily into aerospace commemoratives during the late 2010s as bullion-adjacent collector issues, capitalizing on the 50th anniversary of Concorde's first flight on March 2, 1969, when the French-built 001 prototype lifted off from Toulouse with André Turcat at the controls. The British 002 followed from Filton four weeks later.
Alderney's issuing authority has no geographic or institutional connection to the Concorde program. The coin exists because the anniversary created a commercial opportunity, not because Alderney had any role in Anglo-French supersonic aviation.
