The "Issue D" designation places this within a sequenced release program, suggesting the city was managing denominations and print runs deliberately across multiple tranches rather than responding to a single shortage event.
Apolda was a textile and bell-founding town; its Notgeld program ran long enough to require a deputy mayor's countersignature rather than the Bürgermeister's own hand.
