Comments

Apolda's Silhouette Series is among the more coherent pieces of Thuringian Notgeld design — the city commissioned Adolf Förker in Leipzig to produce a consistent thematic set rather than the improvised, often chaotic single-issue scrip flooding German municipalities in 1921. The "Issue D" designation places this within a sequenced release program, suggesting the city was managing denominations and print runs deliberately across multiple tranches rather than responding to a single shortage event.

Apolda was a textile and bell-founding town; its Notgeld program ran long enough to require a deputy mayor's countersignature rather than the Bürgermeister's own hand.
