| Opmerkingen |
Bezirkssparkasse Mellrichstadt was a district savings bank in Lower Franconia, and like hundreds of similar municipal institutions in 1920 Germany, it issued its own Kleingeldersatz — small-change substitute — as Reichsmünzen vanished from circulation through hoarding and metal shortages. These notgeld pieces were more administrative necessity than monetary policy, authorized under wartime emergency frameworks that outlasted the war itself.
At 48 × 32 mm, this is among the smallest paper notgeld produced anywhere in the Weimar period.
