Below, a validity clause in black Fraktur script occupies three lines across the centre field, with the date 'Mainz, 1. April 1921' and the manuscript signature of the Oberbürgermeister beneath. The denomination numeral '25' appears in red within ornate cartouches at left and right, flanking the red heraldic shield of Mainz at centre bottom, with a serial number in black at lower right. |

| 裏面の説明 | The reverse carries a red ornamental border of repeating foliate and numeral '25' motifs along all four edges, with the text 'Notgeld der Stadt Mainz' printed vertically in red Fraktur on both side margins. Four panels of green-ink Art Nouveau acanthus scrollwork occupy the corners, framing a central circular vignette on a light green ground containing a detailed colour illustration of a Roman legionary helmet (1st century AD) recovered from the Rhine near Mainz. Flanking inscriptions in black Fraktur identify the object and note its preservation in the Altertumsmuseum der Stadt Mainz. |
