The denomination numeral '25' appears in red within ornate cartouches at left and right, flanking the red heraldic shield of Mainz at centre bottom, with a serial number in black at lower right. |

Four panels of green-ink Art Nouveau acanthus scrollwork occupy the corners, framing a central circular vignette on a light green ground containing a detailed colour illustration of a Roman legionary helmet (1st century AD) recovered from the Rhine near Mainz. Flanking inscriptions in black Fraktur identify the object and note its preservation in the Altertumsmuseum der Stadt Mainz. |
