Comments

Sondershausen was the former residence of the Schwarzburg-Sondershausen principality, dissolved in 1918, and by 1921 its municipal government was scrambling to cover the chronic small-change shortage that plagued virtually every German town in the early Weimar period. This note is Notgeld in the strictest functional sense — issued not for collector appeal but because copper and nickel coinage had effectively vanished from circulation.

The Gra#1241.2b suffix indicates a recognized paper or print variant within the series; Grabowski's cataloguing of Sondershausen material distinguishes at least two subvariants for this denomination.
